Alex + Rachel : Surprise Proposal at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

August 10, 2019 by Jensey Leave a Comment

It’s so rare we get to photograph proposals- And I got to help *plan* this one, too!!! :)

Alex is my best friend’s little brother. He’s an *incredible* music composer and lyricist currently living in New York (you can check out his work here, but *my* favorite is “Hey There,” a song he wrote for Veronica when she was pregnant with Scarlett!)

I’ve only met Rachel once but she’s basically one of those rare women that are just as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside and I basically want to be her best friend. <3

It’s been my goal this year to cement a place for myself in Veronica’s family, so when Veronica mentioned Alex wanted to propose to his stunning girlfriend, I couldn’t help but immediately blurt out that I wanted to photograph it!! Veronica was helping to plan the proposal so naturally I  jumped in and offered my help took over the situation! ;) Veronica and I came up with the ruse (that began in truth like most good ruses) that she would invite her family to take photos during her daughter’s 6 month old photo shoot. That way there’s no way it’d be weird for me and Nate to be there with cameras and we could sneakily pick a photogenic spot for the proposal to take place! Veronica made sure to “insist” Rachel be dressed up for the photo session and even convinced her to get a manicure!

We scouted out the week before to find somewhere that family could look on without being spotted (Alex was amazing and arranged for Rachel’s parents to be there- She had noooo idea!) So after we took photos of Alice, Alex arrived with his parents and his girlfriend. Veronica was feeding Alice a bottle and casually mentioned that we should take them out for a few couple photos while they wait. :)

We brought them to our favorite patio and the family secretly watched from the windows behind us. I started off with some simple portraits while I gave everyone time to shuffle in! Once I got the thumbs up, I told Alex to tell Rachel how much he loves her hoping and praying he’d take the hint that it was time to take a knee! The message was received and *I* think it went absolutely perfectly- Rachel had no idea it was coming! :)

Starting off with my favorite photo of them, which happens to be in their last few seconds of ever being girlfriend and boyfriend. <3

I believe this was Rachel saying something along the lines of “How DARE you! You lied to me!”

One of my most most favorites. <3

Rachel’s sweet parents coming out to surprise their daughter- I think we were all crying at this point! <3

One with Alice, our lil’ sneaky scapegoat. <3

With their mamas. <3 <3

Alex and Rachel, we love y’all so so much- Come back and visit again sooooooon! <3

Alice : Six Month Photos at the Grand

August 7, 2019 by Jensey Leave a Comment

Alice, how are you already 6 months old?!

We photographed Alice’s parents’ wedding January of 2017, and in that time, they’ve created two beautiful little girls who are now our nieces. We had the extreme honor of babysitting Scarlett while we waited for her little sister to be born, and bringing her to the hospital soon after! I couldn’t believe it when Veronica told me it was time to schedule Alice’s 6 month portraits- Where has the time gone?!

This shoot was extra special because not only was it for our girl, but we also had the honor of photographing a very special wedding proposal this day! But more about that a little later. :)

Until then, Happy Unbirthday, darling Alice! We love you so!

Feels like yesterday we were shooting big sister Scarlett’s 6 month photos!!

How pretty is my bestie?!

Oh, the things Nate goes through to get some good smiles, lol!!

One hospital throwback photo of Alice just because I can! Part two of this special day is up next! <3

THE ROOTS TAKE ON THE DISNEY DREAM!!

June 24, 2019 by Jensey 2 Comments

You may have seen a few of my favorite photos in this post when we shared our Toddler’s Guide to the Disney Cruise Line!

If you liked that post, you should keep reading, because this one has moooore photos! And if you didn’t like it there might be something wrong with you. Because LOOK AT THIS TINY PIRATE!

We got to go on our first family cruise when Nate and I photographed Katrina and Josh’s wedding!

While we photographed the wedding, Ollie was moving in to their Small World Nursery and he did. not. want. to. leave!!! But first things first- Boarding the ship!

Anyone who’s done a Disney Cruise knows how they greet you on the ship and this was my first time pushing a stroller through the clapping and waving Mickey hands and it made me so emotional! But imagine our surprise when we had a team of the happiest friends skipping and running towards us to greet us- The Switzerfilm team was also on board to shoot the wedding and heard our names being announced and it was the most fun start to the trip!

Ollie saw Joe’s captain hat and immediately requested to wear it. Oliver can be a tough toddler to befriend, but share a hat and bam! Best friends!

This poor kid finally gets a grasp on what a boat is and then he’s introduced to cruise ships! He boarded knowing what a boat was and left thinking every building was a boat, lol!

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavorite. Also only as a photo memory because in person I was terrified every time he’d touch the railing that it would break and he would fall in because I’m THAT mom.

I cannot. <3

A highlight of the trip was picking Ollie up from the Small World daycare on pirate night and bringing home a reeeeeal baby pirate!!!!

THOSE. CURLS. MY. HEART. <3

My whole entire heart in one photo! Look at how cute my people are!!

“He’ll LOVE the splash pad,” they said.

HATED. IT.

The one part that he liked until he slipped on a wet tile and cried for the next 30 minutes. :/

MORNING OLLIE IS THE BEST OLLIE.

Just kidding! FIST BUMPING OLLIE IS THE BEST OLLIE!

Something tells me he’s not gonna like these guys any more on the next cruise, but at least I’ll be putting him in a cute matching outfit to cuten up those tears! ;)

If you read the Toddler Guide, you know he constantly thought this photo was Nate!!!!

Look at that blue water!!! This is what I try to focus on when I’m fighting my panic about my PRIDE AND JOY LEANING UP ON GLASS SO HIGH UP OMGOMGOMG.

Every Ollie is the best Ollie. <3

Our feelings about the cruise being over! This one was so different than relaxing cruises past- But so, so, so much fuller. Let’s see how the next one goes now that he’s learned to say “No.” <3
