Nashville Shenanigans <3

June 10, 2023 by Jensey Leave a Comment

Can you tell it’s summer?

And our slow season?

And we’re FINALLY catching up on all the things?! Blogging and dare I say… Instagram-ing?!?!

While in Tennessee for Kami and AJ’s wedding, our Muppet got to spend the weekend being spoiled rotten by his aunt and uncle in Nashville. There was ice cream and horseback riding and chicken-feeding and painting and even a rodeo! He had one heck of a 48 hour adventure! My one request was they save going to the Nashville Zoo with us. I’m not kidding when I say it’s my favorite thing to do in our old hometown, and if I only have one day to play, that’s where I’m headed! <3

Before I get to the zoo, here’s some proof that I’m not exaggerating when I tell you Aunt LoLo had a magical packed itinerary. My favorite? She helped him create his first “art show,” and she had it on display when we got back from our wedding.

She had him title each painting, which immediately made this piece my favorite: “A Fish Deep in the Water, but We Can’t See It.”

Ok ok, on to zoo day!

TROUBLE.

The single best thing in Nashville? The Nashville Zoo’s *CAGELESS* KANGAROO EXHIBIT.

As long as they’re on the pathway, you can pet them. Our animal-loving boy was smitten. <3

If this kid doesn’t become a veterinarian, I’ll be shocked. His favorite part of the visit was snuggling LoLo and Jon’s chickens. <3

Nashville is too far away. :(

Kami + AJ : Myers Point Barn and Bluff Wedding in Sewanee, TN

I’ll never be able to put into words what an honor it is photographing someone in “the industry.”

Anytime a makeup artist or planner mentions they hope we photograph their wedding someday, my gut response is always, “Are you sure?!?” This was the case with Kami, one of our Disney wedding planner friends. While we aren’t Disney cast members, the team at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons most certainly makes us feel like one of their own!

When Kami first booked her wedding date, it was our farthest-out booking and felt like it would never get here. Being from Tennessee myself, I couldn’t wait to photograph this charming little town; I’ve only driven through and had no idea what views were in store. <3

We *loved* working with DeDe, the planner’s planner! There can be a lot of pressure being the planner for a wedding planner bride, but DeDe was grace under pressure when it came to making a rain backup call and the whole day was just *so* easy. Well… besides that brief time after the ceremony (as we were trying to rush to newlywed portraits), when our car got stuck in the mud! It took Nate, the videographer, father of the bride, and 3 incredibly kind women in their nicest dresses bringing gravel to put behind our tires to finally get un-stuck!

Always a story, I tell you! And now, here’s Kami and AJ’s!!

Kami’s father waiting to see her in her dress for the first time, and on the right, her reaction when he turned around.
Kami stitched this herself. <3
I was heartbroken about the rain, but lucky for us, we were able to take incredible portraits in these covered pathways around The University of the South. <3
Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide who reads their vows first!
The rain paused *just* in time for our family portraits!
Head here for Part II!
