There is no greater honor in this business than when a fellow wedding professional asks you to photograph their wedding day. We’ve been lucky enough to have this happen in the past, and two times this month! We know our wedding friends work with so many photographers so when we get that first inquiry, my knee-jerk first reaction is always, “ARE YOU SURE?!” or “Surely they’re confusing us with someone else..”
This was not the case, however, with Rachel of Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons. I think it was our second time working with her years ago when she let us both know, on the spot, that we will be her wedding photographers when the day arrives. Of course, she and Avi were just dating, and he lived out of state, but every wedding we worked together since that day (and countless Instagram interactions) let us know that 1) that girl was GOING to marry her boyfriend and 2) WE were going to be her photographers!
When Avi reached out to Nate asking us to photograph the big proposal, we were downright giddy! Nate felt like a celebrity meeting their friends and family who were present at the event, because it felt like everyone already knew us! :) By the time we showed up for their wedding morning, we were old friends. It felt surreal that the day was finally here; a day we literally talked about for years with Rachel!
Rachel met Avi at a BBYO meeting. Avi was on the board and visiting the chapter where Rachel was president. After the meeting, Rachel messaged Avi to thank him for his help, and the rest is history. These guys made it through years of long distance, a pandemic, wedding planning, and now, parenting a puppy!
They were married at the Adams Estate in Lake Alfred, FL. It was our first time visiting this property, but I really hope it won’t be the last. Rachel and Avi had the windiest wedding day in the history of weddings (ok- may not be factually true but holy goodness, I’ve never worked in wind like this!!) and while I could keep talking forever and ever, let’s just say it was a day we’ll never forget!!
There were so many sweet touches today- maybe my favorite being this little purse made out of her mom’s wedding gown. <3
For years we heard Rachel brag about how amazing her mom is. When I finally met her on the wedding day, I told her I hope when my son’s grown, he thinks of me even a smidge as highly as Rachel does her!
Rachel gifted her mom with this sweet art piece of both of them in their wedding dresses.
We got to work with Melissa (Weddings by MLC) who used to work Disney weddings with us! :)
Too many for one post- head here for Part II!
