As you may have picked up from the most recent preview posts, Nate and I finished up a whirlwind trip of three weddings in three states.
The final leg of our trip, Colorado, was especially close to my heart because we weren’t shooting just any wedding, it was my best friend Casi’s wedding. Just typing that makes my eyes well up with tears! We had an amazing time and I loved getting to know her family, friends, and the love of her life a whole lot better. :)
I love shooting weddings for close friends because it’s such an important reminder of the weight of our job. It’s easy as wedding photographers to sometimes get wrapped up in the job being just that- A job. To go through the day with your mental checklist and forget the biggest thing of all- It’s someone’s wedding day. The couple’s one wedding day. On Casi’s wedding day, I wasn’t her photographer, I was her best friend with a camera. I wasn’t just shooting centerpieces, I was documenting the months and months of work Casi and her Mom put into tracking down the perfect vases. I wasn’t just photographing a girl in a white dress, it was Casi looking the most beautiful she’s ever looked. I fell in love with my job all over again. And my gorgeous best friend. :)
We’ve been asked by photographers how we handle photographing weddings for close friends. After some trial and errors, we pretty much just ask for two things- That our friends let us make the wedding day time line and more importantly, that they do a first look. :)
The Casi we all know and love. :)
Us acting out where we met- Can you guess? :)
Casi and Ian, I love you both to the moon! Bring me back something pretty!!!! :)
