Kelly + Mike = Asher

August 23, 2011 by Jensey 11 Comments

The other week we got an inquiry from a bride-to-be who heard of us from someone sitting next to her at the nail salon. Who the heck would meet someone and in 10 minutes find out a stranger was engaged and talk us up enough to have said stranger contact us?! Either our Moms… or Kelly. Kelly is a dream bride and our biggest cheerleader ever. Seriously… I’m convinced she has pom poms that match our website and everything! We’re able to stay in business and live our dream because of brides like Kelly- Brides that not only send their bridesmaids to us once their engaged, but you know, total strangers they meet in nail salons. ;)

Kelly and Mike became parents for the first time a few months ago. You know, like parents. As in… “Mom, can I borrow $5,” and “Dad, I need the car.” I love seeing people I love holding little people they created, and that magic was no different with Kelly and Mike and Asher. (Seriously- How amazing is that name?)

Such a fun family portrait. :)

Tough day at the office. ;)

Kelly has taken to motherhood like mermaids take to water.

Kelly dubbed this Asher’s “George Costanza” pose.

Apparently when you have a baby, it literally starts raining onsies. ;)

My favorite. :)

Someday… :)  Thank you T family for such a lovely afternoon! Asher, we can’t wait to hangout again soon!!

“Hud the Stud” : Preview

June 2, 2011 by Jensey 2 Comments

Remember how amazing Lauren looked pregnant?! That’s nothing compared to her new mom glow! We were thrilled Lauren asked us to come take photos of baby Hudson, aka “Hud the Stud,” since he recently turned one month young. I was itching to photograph this gorgeous couple again!

By the way, how amazing is Lauren’s chair?! I was ready to distract Lauren so Nate could sneak it into our trunk. ;)

I love that Hudson will have these photos to look back on someday! :)

We can’t forget the kid that came first- Cutie patootie Franklin! <3

Lauren and Spencer, we’re so excited to share the rest!!! :)

Kolby + Andrew = Kinley

May 6, 2011 by Jensey 19 Comments

You should remember Kolby from Tuesday’s post. :)

Kolby and I were the only little sisters that came along to every one of our big brothers’ Boy Scout troop meetings. What could have been an awful, boring experience for a six year old girl, ended up being one of my most wonderful, glowing childhood memories; all of this thanks to Kolby.

The Boy Scout troop included 20 something middle school-aged boys, so it was no shocker that our Moms’ attention quickly moved from us to the boys, ensuring they didn’t, you know, burn down the church.

The one thing Kolby and I immediately learned we shared in common was a vast imagination… That church quickly turned into a child’s dream playground, where we’d run up and down the dark hallways and play hide-and-go seek in a closet of choir robes. We discovered our own Narnia through a hidden staircase which led to the church’s basement: A large pre-school classroom, to be exact.

If there was one thing I loved playing as a child, it was school. What better place to play school than in a vacant pre-school classroom? The huge chalkboards and rows of cubbies were begging for us to get our grubby little paws on ’em!

I can only imagine what that poor pre-school teacher thought the next day when her own writing on the chalkboard was replaced by sloppy 1st-3rd grade girl writing their own lesson plans! I remember filling the chalkboard with doodles and public proclamations of which boy I was going to marry.

Kolby and I remained friends our whole lives, and while we don’t call each other every month or visit as often as I’d like, we’ve managed to stay in touch and remain an important part of each other’s lives. I adore her, and as wonderful as it was to meet her first born, I’m equally as excited to meet her someday grandkids!

Twenty years into our friendship, I got the phone call that my oldest and dearest friend was having a baby and I burst into happy tears. Last December, Kolby gave birth to the ever tiny Kinley. I’m not gonna lie- One of my favorite perks of living in Nashville is being a short road trip away from these two!

You know Kolby’s a great Mom because she’s already mastered “Mom faces.” :)

Those cheeks!!!!!!!! <3

I, on the other hand, am clearly years away from being Mom-ready. I’m so squeamish about holding babies as it is (I’m so big and I’m always afraid of breaking their tiny bones!), so when Kinley was handed to me and immediately started crying, I was ready to as well! The crying fit proceeded to last the next hour or two until she fell asleep.

After she woke up chipper and fresh from her nap, it was easy to see why this Mom-thing is so “in” right now. :)

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there, be you parents to infants or 70 year olds. And a special happy Mother’s Day to my Kolby, who is celebrating her first ever on Sunday. Because in her whole life, she’ll only have one first! Kolby Cheese, I love you to the moon and back. I hope Kinley’s a good gift shopper. ;)
