Constance + Harrison : Halloween

October 28, 2011 by Jensey 5 Comments

Over the past few years, we’ve been able to share a number of adventures with Root Photography blog stars Carrie and Patrick. Last October when they invited us to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, I knew it was going to be like no other MNSSHP I’d attended in the past! I was right.

The Magic Kingdom looks glorious in the fall. :)

Nope, that’s not a Disney character…

… It’s my Carrie. I mean… The late Constance Hatchaway. Constance resides in the Haunted Mansion along with 998 happy haunts (But there’s room for 1000- Any volunteers?) We spent the evening with her and her most recent husband/ victim…

… Harrison Hightower! If you’re like me and haven’t been to Tokyo Disneyland, Harrison is who the Tower of Terror there is centered around. He’s an explorer, and the little green guy is Shiriki Utundu, an idol Harrison brought back from Africa.  Patrick made this costume (as well as Shiriki!), and the costume was so believable, guests thought he and Carrie were Disney Cast Members. :)

This is seriously just a small handful of all the guests (and Cast Members) that posed for photos with Constance and Harrison. A crowd actually formed around them in the photo on the bottom left of the collage- They just stood around waiting for a show, and of course, Patrick/Harrison happily obliged. :)

HalloWishes!

I’m constantly trying to convince friends to go to Not-So-Scary… I think it’s worth the admission just for the parade- It’s my all time favorite. :)

I don’t know what I love more- The Headless Horseman or Haunted Mansion dancers and grave yard diggers!

Chicago : Travel

October 27, 2011 by Jensey 2 Comments

For the past few years, New York City was our favorite city to visit. But last year when we shot Rebecca and Matias’ wedding, we quickly fell in love with Chicago. It was like a tiny bite of NYC, but with a gorgeous water view and a little more space to breathe. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s a quick four hour drive away from our favorite grandparents, and we get to drive through sites like this to get there. :)

I know there’s no sense of scale here, but these babies were HUGE! They make me think of Ellen’s Energy Adventure. :)

We met these two while exploring the north side and talked for about 15 minutes! After meeting this little guy, I’m thinking his breed could be a good sibling for Huck. ;)

Of course, a favorite thing to photograph in the city is the Bean!

Favorite!

We ended our day with a trip to the Sears Tower, where we stood in a glass box overlooking the city. Gorgeous! :)

Laurie + David : Wedding Part II

October 26, 2011 by Jensey 5 Comments

Continued from Laurie and David’s Wedding Part I.

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a more gorgeous ballroom than the Elysian’s.

While they were transitioning the ceremony site into the reception hall,  Raina practiced throwing her bouquet. :)

*Seriously* magical. I mean… Seriously. :)

Oh, hello there. :)

Their choreographed first dance was to “A Whole New World.”

David and Rayna did the sweetest father daughter dance to “Isn’t She Lovely.”

Flower girl power. :)

The evening ended with Laurie serenading David… So perfect. :) Laurie and David, thank you so much for bringing us to Chicago!

Laurie + David : Wedding Part I

October 25, 2011 by Jensey 2 Comments

When Laurie and David first met us, they were toying around with the idea of having a Disney wedding. We were secretly ecstatic when they moved the location to downtown Chicago. ;) The ceremony and reception were held at the luxurious Elysian Hotel.

Laurie and David opted to have a “first look” which gave us plenty of photo time around the city. :)

They kicked things off by practicing their first dance in the Elysian’s lobby.

David’s gorgeous daughter looking on. :)

Raina and David have the sweetest relationship!

Laurie and David arranged for us to take photos at Wrigley Field. I’m by no means a sports fan, but even I was excited about that! :)

My favorite. :):):)

Laurie designed her ceremony space herself- It looked amazing.
