Lindsey + Derrick = Grayson

February 13, 2012 by Jensey 9 Comments

I’m gonna let you in on a little secret: I’m awful around kids. I don’t like holding other people’s kids, especially babies, and I never know what to say around them. This becomes painfully obvious when we photograph families. Take Grayson, for example. She ran up to me, held my hand, and I immediately start blabbering, “Hi, Grayson! How are you? How’s work? Have you, uh, filed your taxes yet?” Ok, I’m exaggerating, of course, but not by that much! In two seconds, however, Nate becomes the “baby whisperer.” Playing hide and go seek, having them doubling over laughing…

It makes me swoon, of course, but I always fear this is a peek into our future. Nate playing with the kids at sundown, them begging him for 5 more minutes, while I make awkward small talk as I try to get them to finish their homework and avoid eye contact at all times. I know that “they” say it’s totally different when it’s your kid, so I guess time will tell. In the meantime, I like seeing family sessions as good practice and forced interaction with the under three feet variety- One of these days I’ll get the hang of child interaction, but for now, I’ll enjoy my spot behind the camera!

(Note from Nate: Jensey’s an adorable over exaggerator and is just as wonderful during these sessions. Don’t let her creative writing fool you!)

Pigtails! <3

Anyone recognize these three sweet faces? Lindsey and Derrick were married a little over a year ago! <3

Lindsey started throwing leaves on Miss Grayson, and at first, she wasn’t so sure of it…

… But two seconds later, she fell in love with autumn! Favorite!!!!!!!!

We photographed their session right by Vanderbilt Medical Center, and a helicopter kept flying overhead. The sad thing was that it was so cloudy, she couldn’t see the helicopter, just hear it- So confusing!

Ugh, I love you three!

Doesn’t this make you wanna go swing?!

Those little boots!!!!!!! <3

Vanderbilt was so perfect for this session!

Please, God, let me photograph more kids in Halloween costumes next year! I can’t handle this cuteness. :)

Lindsey, Derrick, and Grayson- Let’s do it again next year! And the next, and the next… :)

Victoria + Brian : Wedding Part II

February 8, 2012 by Jensey 6 Comments

Continued from Victoria and Brian’s Wedding Part I.

Not only does Brian have Disney prince-worthy good looks, but he literally danced his way down the aisle. *Swooooon!*

I’m extra emotional when a mother of the bride gives her little girl away, because my Mom gave me away over the phone when we eloped. :)

I love the rustic feel of the Grand Californian‘s ceremony location!

Victoria and Brian had a “ring warming” ceremony, which is yet another perk of having an intimate wedding- Their officiant passed around their wedding rings and each guest held them and “warmed” them with their happy thoughts for the couple.

Brian’s best man had Victoria’s phone in his pocket so her grandma could hear the ceremony. :)

Victoria and Brian, we couldn’t have asked for a better first Disneyland couple! I’m so happy we’ve gained two more friends (and a gaming buddy for Nate!) Please, please keep in touch!

Victoria + Brian : Wedding Part I

February 7, 2012 by Jensey 9 Comments

Don’t forget to check out Victoria and Brian’s Disneyland engagement session first. ;)

After Victoria and Brian’s wedding day, I was able to check off one more thing from my bucket list- Photographing a Disneyland wedding!!! Because we’ve done so many Walt Disney World weddings, I’ve always been curious about how the other side does things. I kept having to remember it’s a much smaller operation over there. Disneyland doesn’t have their own florist or photographers (thank goodness, or we couldn’t shoot in the park, I’m sure!) So everything we’re used to with WDW weddings sort of went out the window. There was a snag in the day regarding timing of Victoria’s flower delivery, and I was a little disappointed with how Disney handled it, but Victoria handled the stress like a champ and you never would have known something went askew. That is why we love our brides. :)

Victoria and Brian met when they were both in the bridal party of a friend’s wedding- I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get much cuter than that!

I was more than a little jealous of the view from Victoria’s room at the Grand Californian. :)

I can’t wait to be an aunt!!! :)

Tara Fontana of Fairytale Hair and Make-up was just as magical as I thought she’d be!

My favorite spot in the Grand Californian. :)

Victoria, I adore you!

Gooooooorgeous! :)

We happened to be in the perfect place at the perfect time and caught some amazing light in the lobby!

Most epic texting photo EVER!

Nate’s favorite. :)

Come back tomorrow for part two!
