Hope + Mark : Vizcaya Engagement Session

April 27, 2022 by Jensey 1 Comment

She’s “friends” with Disney royalty, he’s one of my all-time favorite Disney park photographers (click here to go drool over his portfolio!) and they’re just as kind as they are beautiful. Shortly after Mark proposed to Hope, he mentioned wanting us to be their wedding photographers, and I think my first response was, “Are you sure?!?!?” It’s been a while since I’ve been so nervous and excited to photograph a wedding day, but if Nate’s photos from their engagement session are any indication, Hope and Mark are certainly going to make our job easy. 🤍

I first discovered Hope when the pandemic was still fresh and scary and one of the few things that brought me true comfort was the release of Taylor Swift’s Folklore album. I had never been a “Swiftie” in the past, but this album brought me so much peace the hundreds of times I played it in 2020. This was also the time when Haute by Hope showed up in my Instagram feed, and I saw this woman sharing her adventures in learning to sew, and she just happened to be sewing dresses inspired by songs on Folklore. To this day I can’t choose a favorite, but it’s safe to say I’ve been one of her biggest fans ever since discovering her talent and passion for my favorite hobby!

Given that little backstory, I think it was around that time I learned that Mark and Hope were dating and I thought, “Oh, yep, that seems just about right!” Mark Willard and Tom Bricker are household names for us because of their amazing Disney park photography, and we often share their latest posts with each-other. Mark and Hope are the epitome of a power couple to me and I can’t wait to see what they tackle next- This much beauty, creativity, and talent shouldn’t be allowed in one family but thankfully they seem like genuinely kind hearted people so I’ll allow it. ;)

Mark proposed to Hope after a night out seeing The Nutcracker (let’s all just take a moment to collectively swoon here, ok?). So it wasn’t at all a surprise when they were brainstorming session locations with Nate, that the phrase “off duty Parisian ballerina” was thrown out and I knew juuuuust the place- the Ringling Museum in Sarasota! I thought the blush walls would be perfect and sure enough- they weren’t allowing any session bookings.

THEN I remembered a wedding we photographed a decade or so ago in Miami at Vizcaya. It required a road trip for sure but I certainly think it hit the spot- This place is like Paris meets a Taylor Swift music video and well, I think you can see how it all tied together quite nicely in the end. <3

I am counting the daaaaays until we have the honor of photograph their wedding day!!

Until then, enjoy my favorite Nate shoot of 2022!!

Hannah + Evan : Boardwalk Inn Wedding at Walt Disney World!

April 7, 2022 by Jensey Leave a Comment

This was a rare wedding where Ollie woke up pretty sick the day before and grandparents weren’t able to take him, so we called in reinforcements and our 2nd shooter Kim was able to play “Jensey” for the day!! Nate and Kim killed it per usual, and of course when I started editing Hannah and Evan’s photos, I wanted to cry because I missed out on such a fun weddinggggg!! <3

Evan and Hannah have one of my favorite meet-cutes!! I’ll let her tell the adorable story herself…

“So we met the night I arrived to Orlando for my Disney college program. After driving across the country from texas we went straight to Disney springs to shop around the night before check in. While checking out at World of Disney I noticed the cast member had a DCP name tag that said Evan from the University of Tennessee. Being super excited to be talking to the first CP I met upon arriving there for my own, I asked him about when he arrived, how he’s enjoying it, etc. He told me he had just arrived two weeks earlier and was loving it, then told me good luck on my program and winked at me.
Two days later my mom and I finished moving in to my DCP apartment and wanted to grab lunch on property. I texted in a group chat I had joined from the DCP Facebook page aptly named DCP feminists asking where to park to get lunch on the boardwalk, and I received a response from none other than Evan Hamilton himself. I clicked on his photo and asked my mom if he looked like the cute boy from world of Disney and she said yes omg text him and I said no way that’s weird but she encouraged me to do it anyway. A month later I asked him out to see Happily ever after fireworks on Main Street and the rest is history!”

I think you’re going to loooove these photos- I was immediately smitten when I saw Hannah’s wedding dress but my jaw dropped when I found out it was designed by her childhood best friend! This was what Hannah had to say about her dress : “I had the honor of having my wedding dress designed and custom made by my childhood best friend and day one fashion inspiration, THE Mariah Sliwinski. Mariah is such a force and so unbelievably talented. Growing up by your side and watching you work your magic through every step of the design process made this whole experience so much more special and memorable. There are so many special touches to this dress that help tie my own a story into it, from the lace from my mother’s wedding dress lining the inside, to the hidden Mickey at the end of the train.”

One of Nate and my songs (and now a family favorite since Ollie is obsessed too) is “Surrey with the Fringe on Top.” Before we eloped, we’d planned on making our wedding exit to that song and I just think it’s one of the most romantic songs ever written. So naturally, my favorite part of their day was when Hannah and Evan made their exit in a (fringe-less) surrey on the Boardwalk!

Hannah and Evan, thank you for letting us be your photographers and I hope you love your photos as much as I loved editing them!! <3
