Bonnie and Nate were good friends in college, and like his other college friends, she was always incredibly supportive of his photography. We were so excited when she inquired for her wedding, and not just because Bonnie is one of those women incapable of taking a bad photo. ;)
Bonnie and Alec grew up on different continents, but they have everything in common. My favorite thing about their love story is that they met in Bonnie’s lab and fell in love while dissecting rats together once a week. <3
These guys were married in an extra special Orlando venue for us- Casa Feliz! You may remember from a past post that this is the venue where Nate and I were planning our wedding reception before eloping. Casa Feliz is such a charming Winter Park wedding venue, I love the rich brick and all the color the venue naturally lends itself to. Bonnie and Alec’s wedding took place on the front porch. :) The day after their wedding, they flew to London to celebrate with Alec’s family and friends.
Before I share our photos from the day, I thought I’d do something a little different and share their film from their videographer, Tyler of Beyond Videography. I’ve said it before, but the photo/video relationship can be a dicey one, especially when our styles don’t match. It’s asking two different “artists” with two completely different visions share a canvas, except that canvas is your wedding day and there are a lot of moving pieces involved. We love when our couples go with a videographer on our short list, because we know we won’t have to fight it out or spend half of our already shortened photo time with you waiting for the video team to ask you to put your veil on for the third time so they can capture it from another angle. It’s rare we ask a couple to re-do something and believe we’re there to document your wedding day, not “stage” it. Tyler is one of the easiest vendors to work with, and he brings such truly positive energy to your wedding day. I think my favorite thing about his work though is how well his end product goes with ours. Instead of two documentations with two completely different feels and editing styles, they just kinda fit. :)
Without further ado, Bonnie and Alec’s wedding film by Tyler of Beyond Videography! (Root couples- go book him!!)

Bonnie and her bridesmaids got ready in Winter Park’s Alfond Inn.
I looooooooved Bonnie’s vintage dress and hanger. The whole day had a Great Gatsby feel to it!
I loooooooooooooooooooove a good brooch bouquet! <3
We spent some time wandering around the Alfond Inn for some bridal portraits, and it was impossible to find a bad location!
THESE KIDS. Royalty, I tell you. <3
One of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken! Love this spiral staircase in Casa Feliz.
Bonnie and Alec’s wedding included a special reading of my new favorite poem, “The Day the Saucers Came” by Neil Gaiman. I encourage you to read the poem in its entirety here, but my favorite excerpt, the last stanza, is maybe the sweetest, most accurate description of what it felt like dating my husband. :)
That day, the saucer day, the zombie day
The Ragnarok and fairies day,
the day the great winds came
And snows and the cities turned to crystal, the day
All plants died, plastics dissolved, the day the
Computers turned, the screens telling
us we would obey, the day
Angels, drunk and muddled, stumbled from the bars,
And all the bells of London were sounded, the day
Animals spoke to us in Assyrian, the Yeti day,
The fluttering capes and arrival of
the Time Machine day,
You didn’t notice any of this because
you were sitting in your room, not doing anything
not even reading, not really, just
looking at your telephone,
wondering if I was going to call.
M A R R I E D !

I love that the brooches on their cake matched Bonnie’s bouquet!
