A Very Root Honeymoon <3

January 9, 2015 by Jensey 4 Comments

(Make sure you’ve already read our engagement story here and wedding story here!)

After our wedding, my brand new husband and I took a train back to New York for our honeymoon. Neither of us had been and it was just the most magical. There was nothing like walking around New York City for the first time ever on Christmas Day- Everything was decorated, but the city was practically a ghost town because everything was closed. I was a little sick but didn’t care, and Nathanial was my husband and all was right with the world.

Brian met up with us in Central Park for a few more portraits before we headed back to sunny Florida.

These are all my favorites. <3

There’s a line in Miracle on 34th street where Santa tells Mr. Bedford, “In all my troubles past, and all my troubles yet to come, I’ll never find a better friend.” We never say it enough, but Brian, that’s exactly how we feel about you. Second to getting married, the only thing that mattered to us on our wedding day was having you there! Thank you for your unwavering friendship, and essentially being responsible for not only our wedding day, but our careers. We love you too much. <3

And to wrap up too long a story, here are some of my favorite photos Nathanial grabbed from our honeymoon. <3

And we lived happily ever after. The end! <3

The Cone Family : Brooklyn Home Family Session

February 17, 2014 by Jensey 3 Comments

If you’ve ever seen our beautiful website or if you’re reading this post on our blog, you’re more familiar with this amazing family than you know! Meet Justin and Lu, the ridiculously talented (and adorable) faces behind our entire brand. Justin and Lu took our rag-tag website and branding and transformed it into the experience it is today. It’s been years since our re-design and I still smile when I see our website. Every now and then I find myself falling in love with our intro video all over again, and hovering my mouse over my photo on our “about” page to watch leaves fly. Or re-read Huck’s bio. I smile when I catch a glimpse of our embroidered logo on my camera strap when shooting a wedding. Justin and Lu truly transformed our business and are the best of the best- We’re just lucky enough that they picked us to be their wedding photographers almost five years ago! :)

I don’t have the words to describe how much I love these faces, so I’m just gonna say they truly make me feel Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! We’ve referred to them as “Julu” for years, and last year, they welcomed perfectly-named Julian into the world. Ever since we learned of Lu’s pregnancy, I knew she’d be giving birth to the coolest baby ever. When we learned Julian was a “he,” I couldn’t wait to buy his first pair of baby Converse!

Out of all of our friends, Julu are hands down the coolest. They’re the kind of people you want in your family so they have to hang out with you a few times a year, because you feel infinitely cooler and smarter and more creative just being around them. They’re also added to my list of friends that make me hate the layout of the United States, because clearly New York was placed way too far from Tennessee and Florida. :(

I was thrilled that our Toronto wedding last summer was just a short flight to NYC, which meant we’d be able to meet Mr. Julian for some photo time on our way home.

It’s impossible to pick favorite photos when it comes to this family, so just assume every single photo comes with a caption of “Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavorite! <3” :)

Ok, this one really may be my most favorite of my favorites. Maybe. :)

Justin and Lu started a Facebook group before Julian was born, which was genius. I love the idea of not flooding someone I knew from 10th grade French with a gazillion photos of a someday kiddo. Anyway, this was their cute header from that page…

… And one of their ridiculously talented friends made these for them as a gift!
