Lisa + Jeffrey : Elopement

March 20, 2012 by Jensey 8 Comments

Make sure you read Jeffrey and Lisa’s “in love” session first. :)

One year ago today, we were on the first flight out to New York. Lisa and Jeffrey were eloping! :) Lisa, Nate, and I all had weddings ending around midnight the night before, so I think we were running on pure adrenaline at this point. If you’re reading this, you should leave Lisa and Jeffrey some one year anniversary lovin’!

Nate snuck this photo as we were waiting to board. I love that when this photo was taken, we’d only met Sara and Carolina once before and they felt like strangers! Oh, how quickly that changed!

One quick nap later, we were in glorious NYC looking for lunch in Little Italy!

I should say here that our hotel, while lovely and chic, well… The room sizes were quite, uh… “European.” I’m pretty sure our bathroom on the Disney Cruise Line was bigger than the one at this hotel! That being said, our room wasn’t ready when we checked in, so Nate and I (suitcases in tow), squeezed in Lisa, Jeffrey, Sara, and Carolina’s room. Six of us in one teeny room while the four of them got ready for the wedding… No big deal! As a true testament to our fast bestfriendship, we spent many hours the following days in pajamas piled on their beds talking and playing games. We truly went from acquaintances to family in three days flat.

This is Carolina, the coolest kid I’ve ever known. She’s a real-life Ramona Quimby. :)

Loooooooooooooooooooove.

If I remember right, Jeffrey’s grandmother kept this from her first date with his grandfather. Romantics run in his family. :)

Just like us, Jeffrey and Lisa got ready for their wedding together. I don’t think it gets any sweeter than this, taken after Jeffrey zipped the back of his bride’s wedding gown. :)

Sara is the coolest high schooler I’ve ever met. Her quick wit and immense vocabulary makes her wonderfully intimidating to be around. :) I should mention here that at my first go of it, I spelled “immense” incorrectly.

Yep, he did her lashes. <3

The photo on the left is one of my favorites- My mom, little sister, and I were always so close growing up, so Lisa’s relationship with her daughters reminds me so much of how we were at that age. :)

So New York. :)

As Lisa says, “You haven’t lived until you’ve hailed a cab in your wedding gown!”

Lisa is a native New Yorker and Central Park is her favorite spot. Jeffrey is a huge Beatles fan. The Imagine Circle in Central Park was truly the perfect elopement “venue” for them. Did I mention they were married on John and Yoko’s wedding anniversary?

From Lisa’s blog : Jeffrey and I were the best of friends for many years before our relationship evolved, so bridging the gap between friends and romance was a bit tentative. We would joke that we felt as if we were getting ready to go to the prom with all of the nervous plans we were making! As a joke, I stopped by a local florist and asked for a boutonniere. ‘Make it yellow with a lame ribbon, please.’ Tacky was the goal. I had no idea that Jeffrey had saved it, so you can imagine how overwhelmed I was to see he put it on when we arrived in Central Park. Who says men aren’t romantic?!

I’m still not sure if it was a typical Sunday crowd in Central Park or if it was because it was John and Yoko’s anniversary, but we had a handful of unexpected guests at the ceremony. :)

I took the photos while Nate shot video, which I’m excited to share in a couple days :)

Lisa’s gown was perfect.

Lisa and Jeffrey’s wedding officiant, Sara Ritchie, came prepared with champagne, cupcakes, and bubbles!

Seriously… Who would have known when we met Jeffrey 3 years ago that we’d be signing his wedding license?! Life is beautiful. :) Check back tomorrow for newlywed portrait time in Central Park! Oh, and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, JEFFREY AND LISA! We love you!

Lisa + Jeffrey : In Love

March 19, 2012 by Jensey 6 Comments

I’m gonna tell you a little story.

Nate and I met Jeffrey Stoner about 3 and a half years ago. We fell in love with him after 30 seconds of talking to him, which I’m sure is how every person who’s ever met Jeffrey feels. He’s just so darn kind and has an energy about him that is so incredibly comfortable that you immediately want to 1- Tell him your whole life story and 2- Be his best friend in the whole entire world, ever. Jeffrey and Nate are two peas in a pod… They honestly could be brothers. And he had a gorgeous sheltie!

We didn’t see Jeffrey again for one year, six months, and one day. In the meantime, we’d become Facebook friends. Whenever someone in the industry would bring up his name, we’d say all excited, “Oh, Jeffrey! We love him!” and then I’d suddenly feel completely and utterly embarrassed if it ever got back to Jeffrey, because he probably didn’t even remember us! We were in friend love. With someone we’d only met twice. It was awkward.

But that second time we got to work with him, Jeffrey started telling us about his new relationship- It was with a gorgeous gal he’d been best friends with for a decade, and he was on cloud 9. 19, even. I remember asking him what he loved most about Lisa, and he said it’s like they’re on the same frequency. It was beautiful. :)

Fast forward quite some time, and we still never got to hang out with Mr. Stoner. I Facebook friended his gorgeous lady friend, the Mary Poppins of the wedding industry. She’s a wedding planner and holy moly, her events put the Royal Wedding to shame! I mean, did you see Taylor and Michael’s reception?! I was so intimidated to meet her- All I knew about her was that she was crazy gorgeous, talented, and really into fashion. Seeing as I never quite mastered the art of walking in heels, I was pretty much set on the idea that we’d have nothing in common. The four of us would have a nice lunch and go on with our lives.

Ohhhhhhhh, how wrong I was! They asked us tons of questions about our elopement and we got to share why we did it and why it was the best decision ever. It probably took all of 10 minutes before Lisa and I bonded over our love of all things Disney… Not only that, but she, too, was once a cast member. *Swooooooon!* We left lunch with big grins hoping we’d found our new best friends!

It was a while later when we received a top secret email from Lisa and Jeffrey- They were eloping, no one knew about it, and they wanted us to document it. Honest to goodness, my first response to Nate was, “Oh my gosh… This is so awkward. I think they sent us that email by mistake- Just write back and let them know.” I was wrong- It was no mistake. Two short months later, and we were flying with them (and Lisa’s two charming daughters- More on them later!) to New York to get ’em hitched!

These photos were taken when no one knew they were getting married- But us. I had butterflies the whole time. :)

Whenever we watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, there’s something about Jim Carrey that reminds us of Jeffrey. I think there’s further proof here!

Favorites. :)

The one on the right is my most favorite- SO them.

Some photos are better left unexplained. ;)

Why I love them so much- They can go from silly to stunning in two seconds flat. :)

Part one of their amazing elopement adventure posts tomorrow!

Go here next- No, really. :)
