Sara + Ryan : Wedding

September 15, 2010 by Jensey 7 Comments

The summer of 2010 has been simultaneously the longest and shortest summer of my life. On the one hand, it feels like we just got back from our trip to Africa yesterday, but it feels like it’s been years since we’ve shot a wedding. We’ve never gone so long between events, but I think after the busy 1st half of the year, I really needed the break!

The morning of Sara and Ryan’s wedding, I was running around the house so excited. You see, I was that nerd that genuinely looked forward to the first day of school. If I’m being completely honest here, one of my favorite days of the year growing up was probably when Mom took us school supply shopping! I was so excited to get fresh notebooks, pens, and Mom always let us splurge on the good stuff- You know, I didn’t just have to get the plain purple folder, I was allowed to get the Lisa Frank folder with the golden retrievers on it! :)

While Nate didn’t let me go school supply shopping before Sara and Ryan’s wedding, I am pushing him to let me get this amazing camera strap I found on Etsy… (*hint hint*…)

Enough about school supplies- On to Sara and Ryan’s amazing day! We started by photographing some really pretty things:

This one feels magical. :)

Sara and Ryan opted to put photos first and see each other before the ceremony…

… Which totally paid off. :)

Their bridal party was amazing. I casually suggested it’d make a cool shot if we could get everyone on this cement wall, and the next thing I know, girls in high-heels are scaling this thing with no complaints. Did I mention this was all happening in crazy August heat? Amazing. :)

Our most favorite florist in the universe sprinkled his pixie dust over the Wedding Pavilion- I’ve never, ever seen it look so beautiful. If you don’t have your florist yet (and especially if you’re a Root bride!) go contact Lee Forrest immediately. Tell him we sent ya! :)

Love flower girls with personality! :)

Sara and Ryan were amazing and gave us even more time to photograph them after the ceremony. :)

Their sweet first dance to Ben Fold’s “The Luckiest”:

One of my favorite moments- When their DJ let a guest take over for a song!

Sara and Ryan, thank you so much for letting us capture your day! :)

Sara, you are truly Disney Princess worthy. And I don’t say that often. ;)

When Sara asked us for outside florist recommendations, we sent her to our favorite- Lee Forrest! I’ve never seen the Disney Wedding Pavilion look more gorgeous!

Sara and Ryan, happy honeymoon! Say hello to Hawaii for me! :)

Amanda + Eric : Wedding

May 21, 2010 by Jensey 30 Comments

Amanda contacted us pretty last-minute to shoot her wedding day, and I’m so very happy she did. :)  Amanda and I actually have a lot in common- A mutual love of stationery, we both did the Walt Disney World College Program… After friending her on Facebook, I even found out I was even friends with one of her wedding guests!

Amanda got ready at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, and I knew it was gonna be a great day when I saw her adorable wedding dress. :)

I loooooved the custom hangar! This is such a cute idea, because sometimes we’re stuck photographing this gorgeous gown on one of those dry-cleaner type hangars. If you’re interested in ordering one for yourself, click here to go to the Etsy page where Amanda got hers! (Pst- Lorie, you need one of these!!)

Eric wasn’t too keen on the first look idea at first, but has this to say now about the experience: “The First Look wasn’t something I wanted at first but am so glad we did. I would recommend that to anyone!! That special moment alone with my Bride was amazing. I was worried about not having ‘that’ moment when she came down the aisle, but I was so excited and we both cried the entire way down the aisle.” (Thank you, Disney Wedding Blog!)

Don’t they just look like best friends? I think they just fit each other perfectly! Amanda’s maid of honor is actually a wedding photographer up north. :)

One of my new favorite things is telling our more playful brides to twirl their dress. :)

FAVORITE. Amanda, you look timeless, elegant, and gorgeous!

One question I feel we get often is “Do you Photoshop the Castle to appear much larger than it actually is in the window of the Wedding Pavilion?” Heeeeeck, no! You see, when you stand up at the altar, the Castle is actually pretty tiny. Much more like the photo on the left to the naked eye. However, when we shoot it with our 70-200mm lens at 200mm, we’re able to compress the shot in such a way that we can see the Castle much larger. That’s also why when we’re shooting an engagement session at the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian, if our couples want a shot with Cinderella Castle in the background, we’ll shoot with the 70-200mm lens, as well. Does that make sense? Y’all should know by now we’re not crazy Photoshoppers. ;)

Amanda’s brother married them. :) In my opinion, that’s the best way to go! (Then again, we were married by our best friend, so I’m a bit biased!)

I love this series from the “kiss and cry” part of the day. :)

So, the one thing I didn’t mention yet in this post was how freaking COLD it was!! Their wedding was in March, during that freak cold streak we had. I felt terrible for them, but Amanda was amazing and never once complained about the weather. Amanda broke out this cute fur for a few shots… It actually belonged to her great grandmother, who Amanda now shares the same initials with. How cute is that? :)

Cute and completely un-prompted. :)

These two were so stinkin’ in love… Our favorite kind of couple! :)

You know I had to do my signature shot… ;)

Unfortunately since we’re not able to shoot events inside the four Walt Disney World parks, we weren’t able to capture the fun that went down at their reception. But lucky for them, their bff is a wedding photographer! ;) Amanda and Eric, you guys were so much fun to get to know! Keep in touch, and we hope to see you again! :)
