Getting Ready : Connecting Rooms

So, I’m hoping to start sharing monthly wedding tips, and I’m so excited to kick things off with this one!

It happens all the time (especially our lovely Disney Fairy Tale Weddings): Our couples get ready on their wedding day in two separate locations. Usually, this is separate rooms at the same hotel, but at Disney, it’s often separate rooms at hotels ~30 minutes apart with parking. This can be frustrating when creating the timeline of the wedding day, and a waste of precious photo time when it comes to logistics- Nate dropping me off with the bride, driving to the groom for 15 minutes of photos, then back to the bride’s room or a first look location. See the problem here?

When we photographed Dani and Dan’s wedding last month, I loved that she’d booked connecting rooms for her and Dan. The biggest benefits of this were that instead of sending a bridesmaid on an errand to pick up this or that from Dan, they were able just to go next door, and Nate and I were able to float between the two rooms, ensuring we never missed a moment.

This is now our #1 suggestion for couples getting ready in hotel rooms, and if you need any more convincing to make this happen, just look at this photo Nate snagged while Dani was being laced up- Favorite times a million. :)

Danielle + Dan : Preview

Dani and Dan were married at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort last week, and we were so excited to be a part of it.

My favorite getting ready photo, ever. :)

What’s more relaxing after your wedding than a quick loop around the Walt Disney World Monorail for some wedding photos? Absolutely nothing!

Alex + Steve : Wedding Part I

I don’t know if I’ve told you this before, but I have the most horrid fake British accent. I like using it because it’s the quickest way to make Nate laugh, but the truth is… I sound like an awful, awful slightly-southern version of Dick Van Dyke’s Bert in Mary Poppins. I actually used to *think* I had it pretty well set, but judging by the reactions of my closest friends and family, I seem to be ‘accent deaf’ like people are tone deaf!

That being said, I love a good British accent, so any time we get a booking from a couple across the pond, I get so excited to spend the day listening to their friends and family speak! Alex and Steve were no exception, and this wedding day was full of “lorries” and “lifts” and “spoonfuls of sugar.” Ok, I may have added that last one in for fun, but you get the picture. :)

Alex and Steve got ready at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, where they had a kick-ass view of the savannah.

Patricia LeJeune’s team was on hand, so we knew the day would begin smoothly. :)

Alex’s bridesmaids reminded me so much of Katie and Hayley, the bridesmaids at Victoria and Jack’s wedding. SO sweet and supportive- I’m officially taking applications for British best friends, if anyone’s interested! ;)
