Baby Nathan Root

When Nate and I first started dating, I mentioned my love of laundry fresh out of the dryer- All nice and toasty warm. A couple weeks later, he left me a voice mail telling me he was pulling laundry out of the dryer and it made him think of me, which in turn, made him happy. That was the very moment I fell in love with my husband. :)

Happy birthday, Nathanial. You’re my best friend, therapist, business partner, and soul mate and I can’t (and refuse to) imagine my life without you. I’m forever grateful to your sweet parents for bringing you into this world. Here’s to a new decade of adventures, awesome, and warm laundry from the dryer. Love you to infinity and beyond!

Jes + Aaron : Coronado Springs Anniversary Session

March 11, 2013 by Jensey 4 Comments

Nate and I weren’t able to photograph Jes and Aaron’s Walt Disney World wedding due to Disney’s outside photography rules. Lucky for us, Jes remembered us and when they took their first anniversary visit to Walt Disney World, asked us to come do a session with them. Anniversary sessions are my new favorite. :)

The story of how Jes and Aaron met is one of my all time favorites- They actually met in the orientation line for their freshman year of college. They both stood there in embarrassment while their mothers chatted for what seemed like hours; Aaron’s mom told him he needed to find a nice girl like Jes with a good family like hers, and Jes’ mom told her the same about Aaron. A few months later their paths crossed again during a game of “hallway ball diving,” and they were smitten. Eight years and one adopted penguin later, here we are! :)

We photographed Jes and Aaron’s anniversary session around Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, which is where they got ready on their wedding day. This photo was taken outside of the room Jes stayed in on her wedding day. :)

Disneyland : Preview

March 6, 2013 by Jensey 7 Comments

So, my love for Disneyland has reached a new level that I throw a daycare-worthy temper tantrum on the last night of our trips, refusing to leave the park until Nate promises me we’ll be back. But not just that we’ll be back- I need to know the month and how much we’ll be saving for it each month. It has truly become my happy place!

Disney California Adventure Paradise Pier

On our previous trips, we spent an occasional afternoon in Disney California Adventure, which for us had always just been something to do when Disneyland is crazy crowded. Both of our previous visits were before the new expansion, so it felt like the first 1/3 of the park was just construction walls. When Disney announced Cars Land, I thought it was the worst idea I’d heard yet- I’m so not a fan of the Cars franchise… Little did I know we’d love that land so much it ended up being where we spent most of our time. :)

My favorite part of our trip this time was watching Radiator Springs’ fluorescent lights turn on at sunset. <3

So, so photogenic! We could have (and practically did!) shoot here all day.

And because I can’t do a Disneyland preview without putting in at least a couple photos of the Disneyland Park, these are my favorites so far- Both of the French Quarter, which happened to be decked out for Mardi Gras… How cute are all the dangling beads? :)
