Courtenay + Justin : Wedding

September 1, 2010 by Jensey 4 Comments

Courtenay and Justin were married in the magical Jekyll Island, Georgia!

Courtenay was absolutely gorgeous!

She and Justin opted for a “first look” so we had more time for photos. :)

Courtenay planned for them to exchange private vows… So romantic! :)

They also exchanged wedding gifts. :)

Courtenay’s grandfather made these adorable signs pointing their guests in the right directions. :)

Favorite!

Nate rented a tilt shift lens for this wedding.  I want to add it to our lens family so badly and I’m ready to set a place for it at the dinner table! ;)

Funny story- When I asked Courtenay on their engagement session what their first dance was going to be to, there was a bit of a misunderstanding: She said the theme song to James Bond, “Nobody Does it Better” by Carly Simon. I only heard the “theme song to James Bond part” and was picturing them coming in spy costumes, and dancing some choreographed number with fake guns and what not… It’s probably for the best that I was wrong. ;)

Toasts & Blessing.

How amazing were the lights in this tent?!

The cake cutting got a little messy. ;)

I’m changing my favorite again! :)

The end. Thanks for everything, Courtenay and Justin! :)

Morgan + Jason : Wedding Part 2

August 27, 2010 by Jensey 3 Comments

Continued from Morgan and Jason’s Wedding Part I

Some kiss and cry photos from their receiving line…

So. If you’re a past client, you know we ask for 40 or so minutes to shoot just the bride and groom on the wedding day. The main reason we ask for so much time is because when things run late on a wedding day (which 90% of the time they do), that late time gets taken out of our photo time. Well, on Morgan and Jason’s wedding day, we had about 45 minutes. Take out the receiving line, add in the 50 or so group shot list, and we ended up with about 3 minutes to shoot the couple. Lucky for us, Morgan and Jason worked it out and we were still able to walk away with photos that I just loved.

This was the very first shot I took during that part of the day, and it’s one of my all time favorites. :)

Morgan and Jason met while working out at 24 Hour Fitness. Morgan insists it was love at first sight!

I love all the emotions during the speeches! :)

Morgan’s talented Mom made their wedding cake!

Morgan and Jason, thank you sooooooo much for letting us tag along on your big day! We truly had a wonderful time. :)

Morgan + Jason : Wedding Part 1

August 26, 2010 by Jensey 15 Comments

The only time I seem to get nervous on wedding mornings is when we haven’t met our couple yet. It kind of feels like the first day of school all over again- Will they like me? What if we don’t get along? What if I say something stupid? What if I can’t think of anything to say? It’s very similar to the feeling I get before every meeting we have. Anyway, somewhere between pulling up to this cute sign at Morgan’s Mom’s home and getting the biggest hug of my life from the bride, I was feeling sooooo much better about the day. :)

Not only was Morgan’s dress gorgeous, but she also had a name- Shelly! Why doesn’t everyone name their wedding gown?! I was eating it up… “I’m gonna drag Shelly away for some photos real quick.” “Shelly is gooooorgeous!” “Can you play with Shelly’s skirt for a few photos?” You get the picture. ;)

This was kinda the start of the ring bearer’s emotional breakdown. Poor kid- He was so stressed out. :(

I LOVE HAPPY BRIDES!!!!

I always call the getting ready time the “it takes a village” moment of the day. No photo demonstrates why better than this! :)

Since we didn’t know the area at all, Morgan helped decide where to do her bridal photos beforehand. When she took us to this street that was lined with banyan trees, I knew we were on the same page. :)

Morgan’s sister gave her a letter from Jason, which got everyone all teary. :)

One of my all-time favorite bridal portraits!

So, back to the ring bearer… It was soon his turn to take a photo with the bride, but he wanted nothing to do with it. The next series consisted of Morgan doing everything in her power to make him laugh, and finally succeeded- But look closely at the 4th photo, particularly his nose!! FAVORITE.

I loooooved this wedding idea! We’ve seen in the past couples offer flip flops to their guests when having a beach wedding, but I fell in love with Morgan’s washing/drying station for their guests to clean their feet. It was such a hit, and their guests were able to make it to the reception without that grainy-wet-sand-feet feeling!! :)

Morgan was just a tad bit excited…

… And so was Jason! Their wedding and reception were held on the beach at the Boca Grande Club.

Part II is here!
