I love photographing weddings in my hometown. Valerie and John were married at Germantown Presbyterian Church, where my brother had his Boy Scout meetings once a week when I was in elementary school. My very best friend Kolby (remember that time I held a baby?) and I would spend the evening being little terrors and nosing our way through the church’s basement while our big brothers and moms were busy with the scout meeting. One day, we stumbled upon our own Holy Grail- A preschool classroom. Kolby and I were always obsessed with playing school when we’d have sleepovers, and here we had our own empty classroom to play in. Needless to say, that poor preschool teacher had to come in every Thursday morning with our writing on her chalkboard and things in her drawer just barely out of place. ;)
It’s been slow building our clientele here in Tennessee. Luckily for us, I grew up in Germantown, so we’re slowly making our way around friends of mine getting married, and now friends of my little sister. It’s one thing when your little sister’s best friends start getting married, but it’s a whole other thing when your little sister’s best friend’s little sisters do. Are you still with me here? :) Natalie was my sister’s “Kolby” growing up, and when Natalie’s little sister inquired with us, I couldn’t believe it! I’m still so honored Valerie and John asked us to photograph their wedding.
Hairspray time! Uh-dorable.
My little sister’s best friend, Natalie, all grown up!
Valerie and John opted for a first look where she walked down the aisle. So perfect!
We had planned to go to Oaklawn Garden for their photos, this charming botanical garden in the heart of Germantown. But when heat and getting into the car became problems, we opted for photos around the church. :)
FAVORITE!
Close second favorite. :)
Valerie’s nephew Levi has this family wrapped around his tiny little finger!
Part two coming tomorrow! :)
