Who are you?

September 4, 2012 by Jensey 106 Comments

Yes, you!

I genuinely want to know- If you’re reading this, who are you? Have we met? How did you find us? Are you a bride (past or future) or just a lover of weddings? Or Disney? Or Huck? Maybe you’re a photographer? Tell me about you! :)

I’m Valerie. I’m a stay at home mom in Kansas City. We have never met, but I have been stalking your blog for about two years now. When I was planning my wedding I started lurking about lots of wedding and photography blogs, but this is the only one I still follow. I have promised myself if we ever find ourselves in your corner of the country I am looking you guys up to get some Root fabulousness in our lives… (I know I already had my wedding, but you don’t know how bad I would love a mirror pic with the Roots!) and also meet Huck, of course!!

    – I am Shannon.
    – I’m dying to meet you guys but our schedules/weather are not friends.
    – I cannot wait til December 9th, since I will FINALLY get to meet you guys in real life.
    – I’ve been practicing my curtsey just for this occasion.
    – Oh and I get married that day too.
    – I love both of you, Huck and DIsney.
    – I stalk your blog every single day
    – I think you already know the above info but I thought I’d tell you again
    – I also pray daily that you do not get frightened by me and my love for all things Root and run away before the big day.

Guess I will be first! I “found” you all when I was up all night with my first infant and surfing the web for things to pass the time. I ended up with DIS Boards, then the wedding board, then Carrie’s planning journal, and before I knew it, I was also following your blog. I’ve followed for several years now, and was so excited when we got to have our family shoot with you all!

I’m Jenn, avid blog stalker since 2009 and half of a hopeful future Root couple (still a few years away from that). Like most others, I found you guys through Carrie & Patrick’s wedding on DisBoards and I’ve been in love ever since! My fun fact is that I spied you guys in Hollywood Studios last December while on my college program (Tomorrowland!) and was so starstruck that I didn’t stop to say hi………and then promptly e-mailed because I felt so silly about it :) Hope to properly introduce myself someday!

While I am neither a bride nor a former bride I do stalk this religiously… mostly because HELLO pretty pictures, Disney and fabulous commentary… and because I’m addicted to all things Roots… and devastated that our family photo shoot didn’t work out this summer
And thinking I want to plan a wedding for the sole purpose of having you two (and assistant Huck) photograph it

I’m Linda and I met you in 2009 when you were the amazing photographers for my son’s wedding at Disney. Jason and Dara have beautiful pictures to remember their day. Oh, and of course, I saw you again last year when you were the photographers for Nikki(my daughter) and Mike’s wedding at Lake Mary’s…..again, beautiful pictures and memories.
Now if only they would get busy and you could take some adorable baby pictures!

If you lived here I’d hire you every day of the week and twice on Sundays. I’m the one who messed up our Jiko reservations and felt awful for weeks, months….years! My big claim to fame in your life is that I introduced you to Jeffrey Stoner (because I only hired the most wonderful, talented and sweet people for my wedding) and now you are lifelong friends! I may also be the only person besides Dick Van Dyke to still say “toodlepip” like a chimney sweep, but I’m okay with that :)

We met this past March when you photographed my daughter, Liz and my son-in-law’s (Bryan) wedding at Disney. Photography was very important to us and the best word I can use to describe Root Photography is WOW! Nate and Jensey are so talented! Every photo was perfect! I continue to read your blog daily because I love to see all the photos and read about all your adventures. Like many others have mentioned, I would love to have a family session done some day and I know Liz and Bryan have talked about an anniversary session.

I found out about you both through stalking Carriatrick too, and although I wasn’t able to have you for our wedding, we were lucky enough and you were nice enough to choose us as one of the winners of a competition you ran in June 2010 and we won a free photoshoot! When I told Elfyn we won it sounded a bit like omigodomigodomigodroooootsomigod!! You took our awesome and amazing just married photos in August 2010. When I heard that Jensey loved Christmas and cute stationery, I knew we’d be pals :)

You gave us great tips for our NYC trip and we were lucky to catch you in Orlando for a meal in May 2011 – a very comatose meal on our part after a 9hr early morning flight! I musta been slurring! :)

Im Josh, My wife and I met Nate by chance a few years back when we ended up at a park in Titusville, FL at the same time getting ready to watch a shuttle launch that never launched that day. I remember watching him pull out a bunch of giant lenses attached to a bunch of Canon cameras from his PT Cruiser and feeling the need to start a chat about gear since Im a gearhead/photographer. If I remember correctly, I think Huck was there too? I forget, either way we ended up chatting and talking for a bit and he gave me his business card. Later on, I hit up the website and fell in love with your work. Months later, through some FB/twitter convos, I ended up getting a sweet deal on a 50mm f1.4 from Nate and im still using that lens to this day. You guys always inspire and are always cool and I always learn from your work and blog posts. Rock on guys!

I’m Sarah Bess, long-time friend and baby-pusher. (I mean seriously, guys…get it together. I’m on my third already!) I met my princess Jensey-pants in the Magic Kingdom where she inspired my costuming fashion choices (of course I’m wearing the straw hat!) and generally improved my mood daily during our college program experience. She also taught me how to make things out of duct tape and, more recently, watched my 5 and 1 year old sons (with the help of Nate, of course) at the same time for more than an hour.

I stalk the blog because you are abnormally good writers, amazing artists, unapologetic Disney lovers, and practically perfect in every way. Also because I miss you guys all of the time.

When there was no more to read I found every root bride’s journal I could just to look at the photos, then began officially stalking your blog.

We had an unusual amount of roadblocks planning our own wedding. When the decision was made that we had to postpone the ceremony my biggest fear was that we’d lose out on having you two as our photographers. (You’d also taken their engagement photos in Orlando – They worked and met at Disney). My now husband and I, (who of course also met at Disney!), had the privilege of sitting next to you at the dinner table and getting to know a little bit about the two of you, how you met, how you married and so on. Naturally, you were both so totally adorable and funny and lovely that had you not moved state I would have made you our new best friends! Maybe that’s why you moved state… Anyway! I just moved back to America, (long story, yes even longer than this one, yes that’s possible), and was out for dinner tonight with Lele, Zane, their son(!!) and my husband Steven. The conversation turned to the need for a good photographer and how we wished you guys were still in Orlando to fill that void, (yes void! The hole you left is too great to fill!), and what do I see when I get home? A post on FB from one half of the Amazing Root Duo requesting gibber from people like me! It was meant to be. On the Orlando note, in all seriousness, when are you two back this way? We all want photos!! Seriously, email me. Feel free to edit this ;-) Oh and, we don’t have a dog although I’d love a little Huck(!) but my husbands a cat person. We may not make it. Yeah, you need to edit this. Or not post it at all.
