I’m not gonna lie- The hardest thing about traveling as much as we do isn’t being away from home, it’s when we have to be away from Huck. While we try to take him whenever we’re able, there’s a good amount of time that he just can’t come with us. :( Enter the best friends in the whole world, Huck’s Uncle Jon and Aunt Lorie.
They have two dogs of their own- A lab mix named Charlie, and yorkie mix name Mary-Kate. While Huck isn’t usually a dog’s dog and would rather cower under a coffee table or on my lap than be sniffed by another dog, he looooooves Charlie and Mary-Kate. (Especially Mary-Kate!) They know to sort of leave him be and give him space, but still pay him attention here and there. It makes me so happy, because while it breaks my heart leaving him for weeks at a time, I know he’s with his best friends. And more than likely, a heck of a lot happier than if he were home watching us work all day!
My favorite thing about Lorie and Jon puppy sitting (other than the fact that they keep him alive and happy), is that Jon sends us photos of Huck while we’re away. I don’t care how lame it makes me sound- I so look forward to these pictures!! As you can see below, Huck doesn’t have a hard time making himself at home at Aunt Lorie and Uncle Jon’s place, his favorite spot being Charlie’s huuuuuuge dog bed. I mean, really! I think I know what Santa’s bringing Huck this year. ;)

So sweet! We feel the same way about our 14 year old “puppy” Lily, they are family and bring so much joy to our lives we miss her when we are not home.

I have wondered what you do with Huck when you travel! It is really tough to leave the pups behind (can’t imagine traveling what it must be like to have kids!) but glad you can trust he’s happy!

I know the feeling all to well when we have to leave little Cee home when we travel. We always leave her in good hands but miss her terribly. Especially because she’s so dramatic when she sees the suitcase is out. Huck is so cute and Must miss mommy and daddy.

Golly, I wish I had a Jon and Lorie!! I HATE to leave my pups.. hardest thing for me!! I do have family to help out at times and they are wonderful – but I still hate to leave my dogs!!
(Jon, your pics are awesome, too.)
