Huckleberry Finn was born and raised a Florida boy, so this cold snap here in Nashville has thrown him for a loop! :) He just loves it, though, and is always scratching to go outside and lay in one of our screened-in patios. :) I normally keep his hair short, but I just can’t bear to do that to him when we’re averaging 30º here!
For those of you who have kindly asked about how our little man is doing, he’s wonderful. His eye has healed well- He will remain blind in that eye, but we’re just thankful that we won’t have to have it removed for the time being. He’s on steroid drops twice a day to keep his eye ball from shrinking any more; If you look at him for a while, it’s pretty obvious that his blind eye is about 30% smaller than his healthy eye. You’d never know Huck’s half blind until he mis-calculates the height of our couch, or doesn’t see a wall to his left and bumps into it. On a positive note, it’s much easier for me to sneak up behind him and give him “squinches,” so I’m kind of loving that. :)
We missed Huck’s first snow when we were visiting family in Orlando, but we’ve now had the privilege to see him in flurries, which is pretty much as cute as one would imagine:
Merry Christmas, friends!

What a delightful blog entry…it is with joy that I look at the pictures of Huck, especially those with the two of you. I hope that you have many more happy years with your little guy…..I can’t imagine my house without my pups. Bet you feel the same way about Huck. He is lucky to have such wonderful ‘parents’ and I know you are blessed to have him. (I am so sorry about his eye. I am sure he amazes you with his resilience. Dogs just manage to ‘move on’ much better than we do!!) Enough from me….again, Merry Christmas to the 3 Roots and have a very Happy New Year!!

Ok, I know I’ve said it before, but Huck is the long lost brother of Mr. Winkle. That last photo has me convinced!
