I’m gonna let you in on a little secret: I’m awful<\/em> around kids. I don’t like holding other people’s kids, especially babies, and I never know what to say around them. This becomes painfully obvious when we photograph families. Take Grayson, for example. She ran up to me, held my hand, and I immediately start blabbering, “Hi, Grayson! How are you? How’s work? Have you, uh, filed your taxes yet?” Ok, I’m exaggerating, of course, but not by that<\/em> much! In two seconds, however, Nate becomes the “baby whisperer.” Playing hide and go seek, having them doubling over laughing…<\/p>\n

It makes me swoon, of course, but I always fear this is a peek into our future. Nate playing with the kids at sundown, them begging him for 5 more minutes, while I make awkward small talk as I try to get them to finish their homework and avoid eye contact at all times. I know that “they” say it’s totally different when it’s your kid, so I guess time will tell. In the meantime, I like seeing family sessions as good practice and forced interaction with the under three feet variety- One of these days I’ll get the hang of child interaction, but for now, I’ll enjoy my spot behind<\/em> the camera!<\/p>\n

Anyone recognize these three sweet faces? Lindsey and Derrick were married<\/a> a little over a year ago! <3<\/p>\n

Lindsey started throwing leaves on Miss Grayson, and at first, she wasn’t so sure of it…<\/p>\n

… But two seconds later, she fell in love<\/em> with autumn! Favorite!!!!!!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n

We photographed their session right by Vanderbilt Medical Center, and a helicopter kept flying overhead. The sad thing was that it was so cloudy, she couldn’t see<\/em> the helicopter, just hear it- So confusing!<\/p>\n
